Reading Terminal Market

On the docket this day was a trip to Reading Terminal Market in downtown Philadelphia.  This market is apparently a very famous indoor farmer's market that people from all over the world frequent.  It has even been a movie set of at least one movie that I know of..."National Treasure."  After a breakfast of homemade pancakes (compliments of the culinary skills of Mr. Horne) we went to the market.  It really was a fun, fun place!  There were all sorts of booths with foods and trinkets from all over the world.

For lunch, we devoured some dessert crepes and ice cream.  So far this morning, we have batted zero in the "eat healthy foods" department.  Strangely, we did not mind so much.

When we got home, we rested up a bit and then Sarah, the girls and I decided we better go get groceries for dinner and for Sunday.  We wanted to take Sarah's car but when we went outside, we found it was sandwiched so tight between our truck and another car that we could not move it.  We called Mr. Horne out to move the truck and then went on our way.  When we returned, we found a parking spot on the other side of the apartment building.  After hauling all the groceries into the apartment, we started making dinner.  A while later, Sterling asked me where Mr. Horne was.  He had not come back after going out to move the truck.  I thought it was strange that he would have gone on a walk and not told anyone but I thought maybe he supposed we would be gone for quite a while and so he was taking advantage of that time to walk or read the paper outside where it was quiet.  I didn't worry too much about it.  A while later, Sterling looked outside the window and saw Joel sitting on a bench.  I was right.  He was just enjoying the outside.  When dinner was ready, I had Sydney call his cell phone to tell him to come in.  When we heard his phone ring in the bedroom, Syd put two and two together and exclaimed, "I'll bet he's been locked out this whole time!"  She ran down to let him in.  Sure enough, he had been waiting for us to come back but since we went in the front door instead of the back, he had no idea we were back and we had no idea he was locked out!  So sad...it had been almost 2 hours!  He couldn't call because he didn't have his phone and he couldn't buzz us because Ster and Sarah's doorbell buzzer is connected to the phone line and they don't have a phone yet.  He didn't dare try to sneak in behind anyone because he didn't want to scare them.  Poor, poor Mr. Horne.
