Moving Day

Joel was right.  The trailer made it through the night unmolested.  Haley and I woke up early and jumped into a cab that took us smack dab into the Philadephia I had been worrying about the day before.  It had to be done.  Haley had to see to see another Opthamologist and the lottery fell on me to take her.  It wasn't so bad though - the cab driver told us his life story and by the end of the trip, I felt like we had truly made a friend.  So now it was a city full of thieves and gangsters and our one friend.  After taking some x-rays, the doctor said Haley's eye was healing but still had not fully repaired itself.  He prescribed an additional medication (an eye ointment for when she sleeps) and told us to come back on Monday so he could check her it once more before we left for the long ride home.  Come back?!  Didn't he know we were taking our very lives in our hands by seeing him this day?  Bravery becomes me though and I said, "We'll be here."  We hopped back in a cab and returned to Narberth.  The closer we got to Sterling and Sarah's apartment, the more my fears disappeared and by the time we arrived, I had fallen in love with the tree-lined streets of their new home!  It was so much like our beloved New Jersey that I felt completely at home.

We spent the day with Barry, Adeana, Josh and Travis Alvarez (Sarah's darling family) hauling furniture and boxes up three flights of stairs to a charming little two bedroom apartment, complete with lathe and plaster walls and an arched doorway.  Perfect.  Except for the three flights of stairs.

We emptied the truck and made chaos of their apartment in about 4 hours!

We spent the rest of the day putting beds together, unpacking boxes, assembling the crib and high chair, hanging clothes in closets and even hung pictures and a mirror on the walls!

This is their cute apartment, all put together:

Baby William's nest...assuming baby comes out a boy of course.

Either way, the baby will have to be named William - it's written in fabric!

 Baby's side of the room

Grandma and Grandpa's side of the room

 Sterling and Sarah's room

A kitchen with standing room for one (or two, if you love each other a lot and don't mind bum bumping)

Archway into the bedrooms and bathroom.  Love it!

Where Ster will do his homework for the next 5 years

Where Sarah will wait for Sterling to do his homework for the next 5 years

Archway leading to the front door.

After an exhausting day of moving, Sterling and Sarah went into Philadelphia to get a Philly Cheesesteak with Sarah's family while Mr. Horne, the girls and I stayed back and walked to a nearby Japanese restaurant called Ginza that we had scoped out earlier.  What a good choice!  It was the best Japanese food I've had since I left Japan!  I was thrilled thinking about future visits to Sterling and Sarah and all the yummy Japanese food in store for us!  After dinner, we walked around town a bit in a dream-like state.  We were full and happy!
