Chicago

We were so glad to be near Chicago on a Sunday, because we wanted to attend church at our old Chicago ward.  I had never seen the LDS Meetinghouse that was built after we moved away.  The entire two years that Mr. Horne, Sterling and I lived in Chicago, we participated in fund raisers and donated as much money as we could spare so that that Chapel could be built!  The following two photos are of the home where we met for church when we lived in Chicago years ago (1986-1988).

The old Hyde Park Ward Chapel

Just around the corner from here is where the new chapel was built.

And this is the new Hyde Park Ward Chapel - well, new to me anyway.  We attended the meetings here and recognized one man who was here back in 1986-88 and he remembered us!  It was really SO great!  We also ran into Cliff Clive, Jr. and his family.  We were well acquainted with Cliff's family in New Jersey.  Being here was a very special experience...the saints in Chicago are beautiful!

After church, we changed clothes and walked to Giordano's for lunch.  Giordano's was one of our favorite places to eat when we lived here.  Their specialty is Chicago-style Pizza.  Mmmmmmm.  We don't make a habit of eating out on Sunday, but when on vacation, sometimes that's the way things go.

We then decided to walk around Hyde Park to show the kids, especially Sterling, where we used to live and where Mr. Horne got his MBA, at The University of Chicago.

Mr. Horne, Madi & Sterling check out the grandeur of the University of Chicago.

With the exception of Sarah (because she is great with child and it was hot and we walked a lot), we loved visiting Chicago.  We drove back to Steve and Saundra's home in Naperville and ate dinner out on their back deck.  Saundra watched "While You Were Sleeping" with the girls and I - we had to watch it because it was filmed in Chicago!  Way fun.
