Details

This is the part where I insert random but interesting details about our grand road trip adventure.

First of all, Sarah has only four weeks of her pregnancy left, which means all this has been pretty exhausting for her BUT she has been a real trooper and does her best.  Sterling, Sarah and Sydney are traveling in Sterling and Sarah's BMW and Joel, Madi, Haley and I are traveling in the truck.

The truck is pulling a 16'x8' trailer rented from Lone Peak Rentals in Lehi, Utah.  As I mentioned earlier, it is a bright orange color and in great big letters on the side, it says "RENT ME."  Nothing like sticking out like a sore thumb!  Inside said trailer are ALL of Sterling and Sarah's possessions and all our gear/luggage for the trip.  The man in charge of pulling it has a great responsibility on his shoulders to keep it safe and sound!  Good thing that man is Mr. Horne because he is the most responsible person I know and as I sit next to him in the front of the truck, I can tell that he is taking great care to make sure the trailer arrives safely in Pennsylvania!  But I deviate.  Getting back to the trailer...it is so nice because not only does it open in the back, but it also has a convenient side-door which we have been using exclusively on the trip - it is where we store all our luggage that we schlep into the hotels every night and then back out every morning.  We are averaging about 10 miles per gallon of gas in the truck at an average of $2.80/2.90 per gallon of gas.  The truck seems to be quite capable of pulling the loaded trailer (as long as we have gas in the truck anyway!).

We were so smart and brought coolers loaded with lunch food and a water cooler that we fill with ice and water every time we stop for gas.  We also brought two rubbermaid tubs of food and paper goods for lunches and breakfasts - it has worked out pretty well so far but we are getting a little bored of sandwiches for lunch.

The kids have been GREAT!  The girls don't mind traveling at all, which I must admit, sort of surprises me!  They are older, but their attitudes have far surpassed my expectations.  Madi is 21, Haley is 19 and Sydney is 16.  Haley is a texting maniac and we learned that she can sleep for hours and hours during the day and still sleep at night!

Madi has been texting Morgan Charles and Matthew Wood every day.  She has not seen Matthew yet (he just got home from his mission couple weeks ago) but they have talked on the phone and they text quite a lot.  Each of us have chosen our favorite (most are on Team Matthew at the moment) and are having fun giving her a bit of a hard time!  Poor girl.  But she takes it well.

That's enough.  Back to the itinerary.
