After packing boxes and boxes with everything that Sterling and Sarah owned, they whistled for their chauffeur to come pick them up, along with their boxes, and drive them to Narberth, Pennsylvania - roughly 2,600 miles away with the detours we planned to make! Mr. Horne heard the whistle and hooked a large orange trailer (with the words "RENT ME!" written on the side) to our Ford F150 and drove down to Provo to do just that. After loading the trailer with no room to spare, and filling the truck bed with coolers full of food and drink, we piled into the truck and Ster and Sarah's little BMW and started on our adventure across this great country. We left the morning of Thursday, July 22.
We drove through Utah, Wyoming and most of Nebraska that first day. It was beautiful weather at first but we ran into what seemed like thunder rainstorm on top of thunder rainstorm in Nebraska. Driving was difficult at best but Joel did a great job! The lightening would light up the sky for miles and miles - it was scary but beautiful at the same time. It turned out to be about 14 hours of driving but with all the stops for gas, food and potty breaks, it added up to be 17 hours before we got to a Hampton Inn in Lincoln, Nebraska, where we spent the night. After the stress of pulling the trailer in the blinding rain, lightening and wind, thank goodness for the "heavenly beds" at Hampton Inn!
