A Bitter-Sweet Day

Today is Sterling's 26th birthday.  That is the sweet part of the day.  He is celebrating in Narberth, Pennsylvania.  While we are in Utah.  Taking Sydney to the Missionary Training Center in Provo to start her mission.  That is the bitter.  But kinda sweet also.

After 6 months of preparing for this, it seems unreal that the time is now here.  She and I have been together every day for the last 4 weeks buying this and gathering that and organizing stuff and cleaning up and clearing out.  I can't imagine life without her.  Really.  Her smile.  Her laugh.  The way she sweeps you up into her life.  Her friends.  Her beauty.  Her excitement.  Her testimony.  Her faith.

Ahhhhh.  This is going to be hard!  I am going to miss her like I would miss my right arm but I am SO excited for her to be serving this mission that I would go to any length to make sure she got the opportunity to go!  The things she'll learn.  The people she'll meet.  The experiences she'll have. The new language.  Japan.  Service and love.  Ahhhhh.  This is so exciting!

So here we go...  Even though she committed us to "no tears at the drop-off," guess who was teary?

We hugged at the park across the street from the MTC.

And then again at the curb.  First papa...

Then her marmie.  She is a little scared of the MTC and I am a little scared of letting her go into the world without me.  But we are both brave and finally let go of each other

for 18 months.
